Technology Will Take Over The World

The world continues to evolve day by day; as well as technology. We seek to figure out new ways of accomplishing hard tasks to make our lives more simple. For example, no more vacuuming when you can buy a robot that can do it all for you. Technology saves us time, and can actually be more precise than an actual human. For example, doctors are now using robots to do surgery on patients, they command the robot and work it from the control room, and the robot does the more precise work. There are many ways technology can continue to benefit us and within the next 20 years, who knows what kind of technology will be knocking at our door begging us to use it.

Travel Changes Everyday Lives

From drones to hyperloop trains, driverless cars to interplanetary travel, the near future of travel looks set for revolution. Driverless cars are going to go from legal to compulsory very quickly, as we realize their potential to dramatically increase road safety and efficiency of driving itself. Picture every car being able to speak to every other car. Also, Uber, for example, doesn’t just want to take over the taxi industry, they’re actually aiming to take over all cars everywhere. If your car is self-driving and can earn money while you’re not using it, then it makes sense to put it into Uber’s system. Furthermore, when you do that, you’ll quickly realize that you don’t actually need to own a car; you can just use the closest Uber vehicle, which blows my mind. We’ll also need less parking spaces, which you can turn your home garage into an extra room, and your workplace and the local mall can convert parkades into a usable office and retail space. Changing how we travel is going to be one of the biggest game changers in the world in the next decade or so. These were just some ideas, but they aren’t actually factual, yet.

Dating People Using Technology

Looking for a date? There are multiple apps for you to choose from, Tinder, bumble, and more. Wondering where to take your date? There are an endless array of how-to guides online and corresponding reviews of restaurants and experiences you can try. The world is an easier and better place to live in because of information technology.

It amazes me that we have all these things available to us now and it makes me wonder what we will have in the future. Have you ever thought about what it would look like another 20 years from now? Would we still have mobile phones? What would e-commence be like? Would IT jobs still be the same? I have so many questions, and theories, but they won’t be answered until the next coming years happen.

Under The Eyes Of Surveillance 24/7

As much as people hate to admit it, the world is becoming easier to monitor. Give it two more decades and it will become inevitable. With the combination of cameras, sensors, wireless communication satellites, and GPS, there will be no untraceable location, person or event. Eventually, tracking will be everywhere, from pets to people, places, maybe even police officers too.

Screen Shot 2019-05-04 at 1.24.03 PM.png

Farmers Become Robots

In the future, I can definitely visualize robots being able to help farmers or even being able to take their place. They can utilize things such as water, and make sure that it isn’t as wasted as it is right now. With robots, they don’t really have to take breaks like a human, so more work gets done in a shorter amount of time. They would just have to be monitored frequently to make sure that they are doing their job correctly, and so that they don’t overheat in the hot sun, etc. As well as, robots are able to plant trees or plants for us too if we program them that way.

In Conclusion

So, what are your thoughts on the future? What did you think of the couple of things I noted? Things like these may seem far away from your reality, but the truth is, that it is right around the corner. We may or may not be prepared for it all, but we will learn quickly as time progresses. The future is exciting, and the new things that will be developed will be insane, to the point where we won’t believe our own eyes.

“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.”

Technology Will Take Over The World

Embracing The New Mobile Landscape

Before you enjoy that cup of coffee each morning, chances are you’ve already turned to a mobile app to start your day. Whether it’s finding your way to a meeting, logging your fitness routine, or even adding the cost of that latte to your weekly budget, one thing is clear, and that is how much apps are integrated into our daily lives.

The beauty of digital has always been the ability to measure outcomes. For a long time, digital media was always just a measurement and was relatively straightforward. However, mobile has changed all of that. Measurement today is more complicated, more varied, and more important than ever. Why? Well, for me,  I believe it’s all because of mobile, digital is now a part of our daily routines. Purchases made online and offline are all monitored. Mobile has fractured the customer journey, and our ability to measure its impact at every step of that journey hasn’t kept up.

Why Consumers Take Action

People not only turn to search to find new apps, they actually download apps because of search ads. They’re among the most effective ad formats for driving app downloads. Of those who downloaded an app based on an ad viewed on their smartphone, 50% said they were prompted to do so by a search ad (CoSchedule Blog Pg 1). This shift in how consumers find and learn about new apps paves the way for marketers to rethink their brand’s approach to new app discoverys. And there’s a good reason to tap into search to help boost app awareness. Search ads don’t just raise app visibility; they also drive app downloads by being there at the exact moment when a consumer is actively looking for apps.

For marketers, this means making sure your app stands out wherever smartphone users are looking to discover apps relevant to their interests. The CMSwire page noted that they have reported over 3 million mobile apps which are currently available for download, that factor is more important than ever in today’s flooded app market.

Why Mobile is Big

People turn to apps to ease their daily grind. And they’re more likely to use them if they serve a specific purpose. Mlsdev.com stated, “Two in three will use an app frequently when it simplifies their lives.” For example, you can use a retail app, such as that of Walgreens’, to look for deals and sale items or even coupons; all while you’re shopping in-store. Apps can be very helpful during a customer’s purchase journey. In fact, one in two app users turns to them to find information about a business or product or even to make a purchase (Mlsdev.com Pg 1).

The flip side is that apps can also be abandoned immediately after that transaction. Thirty-eight percent of the people Mlsdev surveyed said they’re likely to download an app when it’s required to complete a purchase. Once they’ve completed that purchase, however, half will uninstall that just downloaded app and move on. For me, personally, I can see how this surveyed high for many uninstalling apps just to get something from the store than to be done with it. I’ve had many instances where I do this at the mall or for a big deal. However, I do think that a true customer keeps an app on their phone if they use it more frequently. No matter how much storage it uses. For example, I have a Chipotle app, Starbucks app, and McDonald’s app on my phone. Whenever I get a notification for a really good deal, I’m very much likely going to go and check it out. I don’t want to waste my time, but I’m a sucker for deals. I think most people are, so if this can relate to you in any way comment down below.

In Short

Given the sheer number of apps available in the market, it’s more challenging than ever to gain an app user’s attention. That’s why an app needs to stand out from the crowd, both in and outside of an app store, so people can find it and use it, again and again. To make sure an app does makes the cut, it’s important to show that it has clear value to the users, well past the initial app download. I think the research can help any brand develop mobile app marketing strategies that will be successful not only in attracting but also in keeping an audience, which brings tremendous value to you as a person and your business. Check out my sources for more research and information. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them down in the comments section. Don’t forget this useful information, and I hope you have a great day!

Embracing The New Mobile Landscape

2019 Projections, Agree or Disagree

With 2019 already rolling, we are expected many changes very soon. After reading the article on the six new trends, which is estimated to change many lives this year, I found a lot of the information very intriguing.

Image result for alexa on fridge

For starters, it was mentioned that Amazon Echo would be making a big statement on its users, by updating and offering more things to users. Such as, if you run out of milk, you can voice command Alexa to order you more or to put it in your shopping cart. Furthermore, marketers/researchers believe that there will be new technology to not only fill your cart when you are running out of certain things, but it will help you compare prices, so you aren’t just getting the price you normally pay for. I think this will help a lot of busy families because it is so easy to run to the store and forget the main thing you went there for. Alexa will be able to save many people time/frustration when it comes to the necessities in your life. Along with furthering Alexa in other helpful ways, for example, Alexa Guard, which alerts you if it catches the sounds of breaking glass or a smoke alarm going off while you’re out of the house. Alexa, in a way, has almost been too successful,” Narcotta, from Strategy Analytics, said.

5G in 4G Out #2019

With all the new changes, 5G has been a big talk for months. If you’re curious, I linked a video explaining the differences between the two (4g & 5G).

Ultimately, Samsung and Verison plan to make 5G part of their new system, but Apple won’t be changing anything until 2020. At least it does give the other companies a chance to have iPhone owners switch their phones in before Apple blows everyone out of the competition. Overall, fifth-generation of mobile internet connectivity is much more promising to being faster at data downloading and upload speeds; along with, wider coverage, and more stable connections. It’s all about making better use of the radio spectrum and enabling far more devices to access the mobile internet at the same time. I really do think that this change will shock many people, yet, be very beneficial in helping many people stop seeing the loading button as often.

How 2019 Will Impact Marketers & Consumers

Having 5G still in mind, this will definitely allow marketers to get live feedback even faster than ever. Especially with videos being more popular than it has in past years, marketers will be able to put more money towards the quality of their videos and marketing on social platforms overall. Consumers will be able to see things faster and have quality marketing thrown their way, over garbage.

What 2019 Brings?

I think we are all wondering the same thing, will 2019 be a year full of more amazing, creative, well-thought-out, innovative, things; or will this year fail us ‘technology wise?’ I think the talk of all the improvements is definitely something to be excited for, but I definitely like promises over companies that can follow-through. I will admit, I’m most excited to see what Apple will bring to the technology table this year.

Mobile App Obsessions

Recently, smartphone users have been pushing online retailers to rethink their strategy when it comes to how we purchase. As we become more advanced in technology, the more we crave ‘easy.’ Nowadays, consumers prefer to shop on their own phone, where they are able to push a few buttons, and make a purchase. Much easier if you compare it to logging into an account on a desktop. As a result, the number of smartphone users is expected to increase from 2.32 billion this year to 2.87 billion by 2020 (Tokareva Pg 1).

Mobile Experience

From experience, I can’t remember a time I really used my computer to purchase something, minus the time it was a week before Halloween and my parents needed us to find costumes online. However, most of the time, we would go to the store to find things, whereas, now that I’m older and I have my own smartphone, I download and delete mobile apps weekly. Most of the apps that I use for shopping is Amazon, Pink Victoria Secret, and Mercari. If you don’t know what Mercari is, basically it’s a site kind of like eBay. You’re able to purchase things practically new for less money, in comparison to a thrift store, but online, and around our country only.

Growing Mobile

As we continue to grow with technology, we grow out of the harder stuff, like I said before, we prefer to have things kind of given to us. Ask yourself this, if you could download an app in 2 minutes, then login with your face ID, for example, then, pick out your item and check out all in under 10 minutes; would you do that? Over, for example, using your laptop and having to struggle figuring out your passcode, ads in the frame, etc. You see, life is so much more about what is simple, and we like it because it saves us time. Why do you think rich people hire maids or assistants, it’s to make their lives more simple, so they don’t have to clean or worry about their next appointment.

Why It’s Smart To Go Mobile

As for logistics, if companies create mobile apps for us to use we are probably more likely to use it, why? Well, customers tend to spend 3 to 4 times longer in mobile apps than desktops (Tokareva Pg 1). Mobile sites also rate the highest for having more in their shopping cart over desktops. Since it is so easy to checkout nowadays, we tend to spend more money because when our card info is already in their system, we are more likely to charge more to it. It’s incredibly smart on the companies end; the customer spends more money and they feel like they didn’t because the checkout part was so easy. Furthermore, this leads to both sides (consumer & company) being happy because they both get what they want. For these reasons, retailers prefer to shift their business to mobile apps.

Impulse Mobile Buying

It’s hard to not purchase something you see and like when it keeps popping up on your Instagram or Facebook accounts, for example. This makes you want to complete that quick purchase so you can post it to your social media too. The model, and the video advertising a certain product can make it seem so hard to resist. However, this is what the companies want, they want to go into your cookies, and they want to bug you till you buy it. For example, have you ever had an annoying sales person either in-store or online, bug you till you just gave up and bought the thing? Yeah, then to later think of how silly that purchase was because you know for a fact you won’t ever use that product. Oh, how you wish you could return it too, but that is such a big waste of time. So, you end up keeping it, as it collects dust in your closet for it to later be sold, dirt cheap, at a future garage sale.

Mobile Is Truly Easy

Overall, purchases made through an app rather than in-store may be more impulsive, and people tapping a button may feel less intimidated than they would if they had to wait in line at a register and physically hand over cash or a credit card. This can lead to a higher rate of buyer’s remorse. We now know that the benefits of online mobile apps can very valuable in helping not only the consumer but as well as, the company itself.

Mobile App Obsessions

Walmart App Vs Amazon App

Mobile apps are becoming more and more popular every day. Companies are trying to make a deal you can’t resist for free. For example, many people have heart eyes for Chipotle, as we all know, Chipotle is expensive; however, they just came out with a rewards app. If you use the app frequently, you get rewarded or points towards a free menu item. Furthermore, Walmart and Amazon specifically, have been ahead in the marketing mobile app game for much longer than places, such as Chipotle. Personally, I’ve been using the Amazon app for almost two years now, and I’ve only downloaded the Walmart app when I needed it for a special promotion, or to try out their grocery pickup. Side note, Walmart uses a different app for that. Overall, today we will be comparing the two apps, and in the comments section below, I’d very much appreciate any feedback you may have on the two and the overall blog post.

Savings Catcher

Most shopping savings apps reveal coupons and discounts before you get to the checkout. Walmart’s app takes a different approach. Its Savings Catcher feature dishes out the discounts after you’ve already paid for your items in the store. It’s a simple way to potentially save money without putting in much effort, but there are some drawbacks only certain items qualify and online shoppers can’t cash in. In detail, the Savings Catcher feature mainly covers groceries, toiletries, and other household items. It uses a third-party service to search for local print and online ads from top competitors and compares the prices of eligible goods. But don’t worry, you’ll get reimbursed in Rewards Dollars that accumulate on a Walmart e-gift card in your Walmart account. The way this works, is you’re able to spend your credit only at Walmart stores or on its website. Savings Catcher is just one part of the Walmart app. Here’s what else you can do with the app:

  • Create shopping lists and registries
  • Browse your local store’s weekly ad
  • Scan barcodes to see product information
  • Make purchases
  • Manage your pharmacy prescriptions
  • Set up Walmart Pay
  • Store your receipts

Why Amazon is Ahead in the Game

Where most companies provide discounts to lead customers to their sites, Amazon promotes and promises differently. Amazon provides customers with extremely fast shipping. You could order something before midnight and receive your package in the mail, the very next day. They promise their Prime Members the best, so instead of coupons, Amazon will give you half off on a purchase depending on the timing. For example, on BlackFriday, Amazon will slash their prices, so customers don’t have to fight the crowds. Their theory is, find good deals online, and then you can compare your prices to other companies as well, to truly see if the deals are steals.

Additionally, Amazons’ quick buying and shipping options are a hit with younger consumers, who often times gravitate toward instant gratification when shopping. “The Amazon app reaches users in the 18 to 24 age bracket most readily, while runner-up Walmart appeals more to married couples, as well as females (Source).” Not only is the shipping what makes Amazons mobile app a hit, but their app is also easy to navigate, and they provide helpful tools for navigation if you need to find something.

Amazon has the majority of us because there is such a wide variety of things we can purchase from them. The mobile app makes it so easy to navigate, search, and purchase. Most competitors can’t even compete to Amazons’ level, they are just so different and unique. They continuously come up with new things for their Prime Members, and customers all around, for example, the mobile app continuously advertises their Amazon Alexa or Echo; even Fire Stick.

Keep Up

Overall, Amazon is continuing to expand, as well as Walmart, and a vast majority of us will keep up with these new trends and movements as we evolve. I think it’s important as a consumer, to keep looking at mobile apps, to see if they can truly benefit you. The nice thing too is, you can delete any app if you don’t want to keep it on your phone. I definitely would recommend taking advantage of the opportunities that companies are trying to promote, and if you’re in the mood, give the company some feedback by writing a review. Companies always want to aim for satisfaction especially for their customers, because they target our needs and wants. So, by writing a review on what they did amazing great at or what the mobile app or company itself, could improve on, could potentially help everyone.

Hobbies Never Go Out of Style, Will You?

Why I Am Who I Am

Before we get into the juiciness of this topic, I’d like to first introduce myself. My name is Alexis, I was born and raised in sunny southern California. I moved to Wisconsin about five years ago, and have loved it here ever since; minus the winters. My passion is to help others, my family owns a business in Door County, where they help people with disabilities, find stable jobs. They continue to help their community 24/7 and it inspires to want to be as great. My friends would say I’m a sweet, caring, funny, girl. I’m definitely not your average college girl, mainly because I’ve never used drugs or drink. Yes, I am the DD (designated driver) for every party we all go to, but I’m okay with it because I know that my friends will make it home safe as long as I’m at the wheel.

I grew up in a very difficult situation, and I believe it is the very thing that makes me as strong-willed as I am. My past makes many wonder how I developed so well after going through what I have, but the easiest answer I can give without going too deep is my grandparents. If I hadn’t moved to Wisconsin at the time I did, who knows what kind of person I would have become. Furthermore, with moving to a new place, life becomes completely different. With my life changing so quickly, I picked up some hobbies along the way.

Silhouette Photo of Woman Against during Golden Hour Image result for black quote about hobby

Hobbies?

What exactly are hobbies? Well, the definition I found stated, ‘An activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure’ (Source). Some people might have a hard time doing work that serves no purpose other than being fun. You know that feeling: When you’re out at the movies or enjoying a long shopping trip, and you think “I really should be doing X instead.” If you’re always on the move and trying to hit a goal or better yourself, make your hobby fit that criteria. Pick one up that will help you change for the better.

My hobbies have always consisted of either social media such as YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, or exercise such as running, hiking, yoga, tennis, and swimming. I like to work with friends on various projects when I get the chance, and I make a regular appearance to see my siblings in California and in Door County; to take them on a fun little date.

Find Your Hobby

What was the last thing you did in your life that made the time completely fly by? When did you have one of those moments where you checked the clock and were shocked you missed lunch or dinner because you were so absorbed in your work? Remember it, and then go after it, or pick apart the core ideas of what made it so special for you and see if you can find them in a different activity.

For example, if you played the piano as a child then try it out again. All it takes is one try and you could have the passion for the piano all over again. You could use it as something you’d like to improve on as well. This is just an example, but can also fit in with many other hobbies, such as a sports, DIY projects, volunteering, and much more.

Black and White Electronic Keyboard

Hobbies can make a serious impact on your quality of life. But they can also improve your work performance. According to licensed professional counselor Rebecca Weiler, when you’re engaged and fulfilled in your life outside of work (like you are when you’re pursuing meaningful hobbies), that happiness spills over. It can make you more focused and enthusiastic when you’re on the job.

Why It’s Important To You

Finding something that makes you tick outside of work can seem like a giant task in and of itself, but it’s worth it to find something that makes you feel creatively and independently fulfilled, so try a few of these tips and see what happens. It may be easier to figure out than you expect. It might take a few attempts to find a hobby that you love, but the key is to not give up. Keep putting yourself out there, connecting with people, and exploring new things that feel exciting to you. Eventually, you’ll find a hobby that feels like the right fit—and you’ll learn a bunch of new things and meet cool people in the process! Like Winston Churchill once said, “To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real.”
